Rubber tyred container gantry crane, abbreviated as RTG, is a special machine for large specialized container yard, loading and unloading standard containers. It is not only suitable for the storage yard of container terminal, but also suitable for the special storage yard of container.

The field bridge is powered by diesel engine AC generator set, which adopts digital frequency conversion speed regulation, and can move in two directions in the container field. Equipped with a retractable sling capable of lifting 20 foot, 40 foot containers. Fixed guide plate is often used as the lifting device of the field bridge. In order to reduce the swing of the spreader, a mechanical anti sway device is installed. In order to facilitate the case, a small angle rotation device of the spreader is installed. In general, the span of field bridge has been standardized to 23.47m (six lines plus walkways), and non-standard span field bridge can also be supplied. The field bridge is supported on a large tubeless tyre with 4, 8 or 16 wheels. The number of wheels is designed according to the requirements of the site wheel pressure. The crane traveling mechanism can be driven by four or two wheels. In order to prevent the collision between the field bridges and between the field bridges and containers, a manual deviation correction system and a four corner collision prevention device are provided.

The trolley running machine can be driven by rack type or double axle or single axle, and the running is stable. A cab is arranged under the trolley frame, in which the driver operates the whole crane.

The field bridge adopts AC or DC speed control system, which has good speed control and constant power control, and can automatically adjust the lifting speed according to the weight of the box.

Safety Measures

In terms of safety facilities, there are signal devices such as overload protection, diesel engine over-speed protection, high water temperature and low oil pressure, wind speed indicator, anti typhoon anchoring device, emergency stop button, limit switch and signal indication of various mechanisms, etc.

Electric double girder gantry crane is mainly composed of crane operation mechanism, lower crossbeam, supporting leg, cab, main beam, trolley operation mechanism, lifting mechanism, escalator, electrical appliances and other components. Double girder gantry crane is suitable for loading and unloading of open warehouse, stock yard, railway freight station, port wharf, etc. It can also be equipped with a variety of special hooks for a variety of special operations. There are two conductive forms of crane: cable and slide wire.

Crane operation mechanism

It is mainly composed of lower crossbeam and trolley, in which the trolley is composed of active wheel group and slave automatic wheel group, and the running mechanism includes motor, reducer, gear, wheel group and other components.

Supporting legs

The section steel is used as the material, and then welded into a cage mechanism. The lower end is connected with the lower cross beam, and the upper end is connected with the main beam bolt through flange.

Cab

The framework is made of section steel, the shell is welded on the framework with thin steel plate, the cab is closed with broken line, and the electrical appliances, distribution cabinets and lines of the control mechanism are generally set in the cab.

Main beam

The main beam is made of section steel and steel plate by welding. Generally, it is welded into a tripod. On the main beam, there are trolley running rails.

Trolley running mechanism

The main parts of the trolley running mechanism are similar to the crane running mechanism. The motor is driven by the reducer, and the small gear on the reducer is transmitted to the big gear, so that the trolley can travel back and forth.

Lifting mechanism

The lifting mechanism is installed on the trolley frame, and the lifting movement is realized through the winch and the supporting fixed pulley, movable pulley or hook.

The steel structure of rail container gantry crane generally adopts box structure. In order to reduce the quality of the whole machine, truss structure can also be used, but the production cost is high.

According to the different supporting ways of the door leg, the whole structure mostly adopts “Π” type and “U” type. The rigidity and flexibility of the “Π” type structure are both in the form of “Π”. The transverse rigidity of the two main beams and the strength and rigidity of the door leg are realized through the rigidity of the door leg and the beam on the door leg. The “U” structure door leg is realized by the connection rigidity between the door leg and the lower crossbeam of the door leg.

1.Main girder structure. The main beam structure consists of two box end beams and is supported on rigid and flexible legs. At present, the skew rail box girder is often used. In order to avoid the high stress area caused by wheel pressure, the “T” steel is used to weld the bearing rail with the main beam panel and the bearing web. The main beam and rigid leg are connected by high-strength bolts or welding, and the flexible leg is connected by hinged connection. For the convenience of installation, the main beam and end beam are generally connected by high-strength bolts.

2.Leg structure. Both rigid and flexible legs are of box structure. For the small and medium span rail type container gantry crane, the legs on both sides are made of rigid legs. The strength and rigidity of the Π shaped leg along the crane direction are realized by the rigid connection between the leg and the top crossbeam: for the U-shaped leg, it is realized by the rigid connection between the leg and the bottom crossbeam, while the strength and rigidity along the trolley direction are realized by the rigid connection between the main beam and the rigid leg.

3.Trolley structure. The structure of the traveling trolley is different according to whether the hoisting mechanism is steel wire rope drum type or expansion rigid frame type. Generally, the combined structure of box girder and plate truss is adopted. The layout of lifting mechanism and trolley running mechanism shall be considered for the structure of running trolley, so as to ensure that the mechanism can bear the load transferred during operation and has certain rigidity. The cab, electric control cabinet, anti rolling device, cable towing, etc. are all connected to the trolley structure.

4.Auxiliary structure. The auxiliary structure includes the electrical room structure, escalator, walkway, maintenance platform, etc. set on one side of the main beam.

In each operation, the heavy objects shall be lifted about 30cm above the ground, and the operators shall check the binding firmness and balance of the lifted objects, and then continue to lift the objects;

When starting the machine, the heavy objects shall be lifted about 30cm from the ground, and the operation can be started only after confirming that the brake works reliably;

When lifting heavy objects, the lifting and lowering shall be balanced, and the fast lowering time shall not be too long. When the lowering speed of the heavy objects is greater than the synchronous speed of the motor, it is not allowed to directly reverse connect and make the heavy objects. When the heavy objects fall rapidly, it is not allowed to stop suddenly;

When the hoisted object needs to run in reverse, the controller must be turned to the zero position first, and the reverse operation can only be carried out after the mechanism is completely stopped and the object is balanced. It is forbidden to use reverse operation for parking to avoid emergency braking;

When the hook is lowered to the lowest position or the boom is east to the maximum amplitude position, at least 3 circles of wire rope shall be left on the hoisting and luffing drum, and the wire rope shall be wound neatly on the drum;

Adjustment and maintenance of transmission parts must be carried out after shutdown;

In case of sudden power failure or other faults during operation, try to make the hoisted object fall to the ground and not stay in the air;

When the machine is stopped, the boom shall be moved to the maximum extent, turned to the direction of downwind, the empty hook shall be raised 5-6m away from the top of the boom, the control handle of each controller shall be placed at the zero pole, the power shall be cut off, and the external power scribe shall not leave until all parts are checked to be correct.

1.Inspect the wear condition of the wire rope and replace it as appropriate;

2.Check the operation of pulley and bearing, and the operation of large rotating bearing for noise and abnormality;

3.Check and adjust the wear of brake shoe and wheel of brake;

4.Check whether the connecting bolts are loose and tightened;

5.Check whether all limit switches are reliable and adjust them;

6.Check whether the rubber ring of coupling and buffer rubber block of mechanism damaged;

7.Check whether all electrical equipment operates normally and adjust it;

8.Check whether all lubrication is normal and add in time in case of insufficient.

In case of any abnormality of the machine, stop the machine for inspection and report to the management personnel. The operation can only be carried out after the abnormality is eliminated.

Gantry cranes with reliable protections can work more safely and efficiently during material handling operations. Electric Protection System for Gantry Crane

Short circuit protection: the main power supply circuit sets automatic air switch as crane’s short circuit protection; control circuit sets small volume automatic air switch as the short circuit protection.

Voltage loss protection: circuit configuration has voltage loss protection; when the crane is powered again after the power cut-off, it is needed to push the start button again to operate the crane, which eliminates the possibility that the crane operates automatically after the power is on.

Emergency power off switch: the crane sets rotary reset type emergency power off switch to cut off the main power supply and control circuit of the crane under emergent circumstances. The switch is installed at the place where people are easy to operate it.

Overload limiter: when the load reaches 90% of the rated lifting capacity, the limiter will send informatory warning signal; when the load reaches 110% of the rated lifting capacity, it will cut off the lifting power supply and send prohibitive alarm signal.

Travel switch: the lifting mechanism sets up and down fire stopper as the limit switch of the lifting range, and it also has protective effect against adhesion of controller. The crane sets operating limit limiter which consists of travel limit switch and safety ruler, the limit switch is installed on the crane, and the safety ruler is installed on the bearing rail beam without affect the crane traveling to make sure the crane travels in the safe range. The crane limiter can be common limit switch or also can be photoelectric switch or laser anti-collision device which is smaller, has higher performance and more accurate limit distance.

Zero position and interlock protection: cabin control crane has the functions of zero position protection and door switch interlock protection. The zero position protection makes sure that the crane will not operate automatically when the power supply is restarted after the power cut-off, avoiding accidents. Door switch interlocking makes sure that the personnel or some items will not fall down from the door because the safety door is open or the crane operates suddenly.

Protection of phase failure, phase dislocation, over voltage and under voltage: the integrated protector of the crane circuit system has the protection function of phase-failure, phase dislocation, over-voltage and under-voltage, when the above four circumstances happen, it will cut off the crane main power supply automatically to avoid personnel injury and equipment damage.

Grounding protection: metal mechanism and all the electric equipment metal enclosure, tube groove and low voltage side of the transformer are equipped with reliable grounding, the total grounding resistance is not greater than 4Ω, and it allows the crane track is used as grounding wire. The crane insulation resistance against ground at ambient temperature is not less than 1MΩ.
